Inaccurate textbooks in Texas

In 2010 Texas introduced a set of textbook standards called Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills which are debated controversially. The books written according to these guidelines contain partly misleading, racially prejudiced and, at times, false information, several non-profit groups and individuals found out during reviews. Some of the publishers have corrected these mistakes and some did not, the Texas Freedom Network revealed. Examples of inaccuracies are statements which suggest that the Ten Commandments influenced the writing of the U.S. Constitution, that Moses was a democratic leader who influenced the Founding Fathers or which challenge the fact that humans are responsible for the climate change. The textbooks are widely in use by now, not only in the state Texas with its 4.7 million schoolchildren. Many of the responsible board-members who approved these guidelines have been voted out since the release. The repair is in progress.
