Indian state Haryana launches e-textbook portal for students

School students in the Indian state Haryana can now download school textbooks from the e-textbook portal of the Haryana School Education Board, which was launched on May this year. 26 textbooks of classes IX to XII have been uploaded on the portal and these can be easily converted into audio files.
Haryanas chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said, that the Board is an important step towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of Digital India. The Digital India programme is a flagship programme of the Government of India with a vision to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.
The Board brings out the advantages of e-books: the facility for students to search any information in no time and to allow them to mark important parts of e-textbooks. Apart from this, digital textbooks are more conducive to environment and carrying of the heavy printed textbooks falls away for the kids.
