Joint project between Hamburg’s education authority and the Joachim Herz Stiftung on digital teaching components.

The Hamburg authority for schools and vocational training (BSB) is joining forces with the Joachim Herz Stiftung in a bid to create an online platform for the advancement of digital education in the 2018/19 academic year. The BSB has assembled a team of Hamburg teachers with practical experience of using digital educational materials in the classroom. The Joachim Herz Stiftung is providing expert support and financial assistance for the development of teaching components that will be used in secondary schools in Hamburg.
The project plan is to ‘develop and test individual digital lesson components [...] in four-week cycles’. Teachers working in a range of education institutions will be involved in the testing phase. By the 2018/19 academic year an online platform will provide access for all teachers in Hamburg to the teaching components. After passing through a quality control process it is envisaged that the teaching components will be made available online as Open Educational Resources (OER) under CC-licences.
