Proposed U.S. history curriculum doesn’t include greatest icons

There is a discussion in the United States about the proposed new history curriculum standards lead by persons in charge of the education system. People from several backgrounds as former teachers, Attorneys and members of the Board of Education criticize the approach of the curriculum. It lays the focus less on contributions of persons like Benjamin Franklin or Thomas Jefferson and the rise of democratic institutions. Generally the critics miss the appreciation of the American history and its positive aspects. According to them the students will be exposed to a narrative laden with tyranny and subjugation. The contents of the curriculum present their history as one long story of groups in conflict.
