U.S. law „No Child Left Behind“ revised

Over ten years after the initial introduction of the „No Child Child Left Behind“ (NCLB) education law Barrack Obama signed its revision which the two big parties in the United States did not agree on for a long time. The revised legislation transfers the power of decision and control over the nation’s public schools back to the state and local governments. Originally the law contained stringent requirements to ensure the students abilities in reading and math. The punishments for not meeting the standards like the closure of underperforming schools were too harsh in the opinions of the parties. The main idea behind the initial approach was right but often fell short in practice. The new version shifts the control towards the states and furthermore guarantees access to high quality education for disadvantaged students. Republicans and Democrats both got together in this case.
