Video-games in classes?

According to a study published by the University of Indiana many students spend nearly as many hours playing video games as they spend in schools - 10.000 hours on average by the time they graduate from high school. The U.S. Department of Education wants to meet these amounts of time spent playing video games by integrating these games into classes. A gathering of educational experts, students, game developers and publishers, the Learning Summit in New York City, was an opportunity to identifiy appropriate games for educational purposes. There is a big need of discussion between these groups regarding the different interests. There are examples like Assasin’s Creed, taking place in historical settings, Rocksmith with rhythm- and music educational contents and Just Dance, offering health beneftis. The associate director of public relations at Ubisoft, a big game publisher, says games will become an important part of education in the future.
