Apple and IBM: Collecting big data for school innovations

Several months ago Apple and IBM started a collaboration to develop the “Student Achievement App”. According to the two companies the App is one of the important steps to a big improvement in the education industry and system. They expect the classroom “to look more different in a decade than classrooms have looked over the last 20 years”. Their goal is to realize an environment for the students to learn what they want at an individual pace. Since pupils have different talents and skill gaps there needs to be custom-made advice for teachers on how to connect these talents and interests with possible occupational images. The requirement for such a vision, though, is a big collection of data which is not a plan everyone will agree with.
