Author suggests rethinking learning

Author Benedict Carey published the book How We Learn: The Surprising Truth About When, Where, and Why It Happens and states our brains aren’t designed to learn in the typical educational environment. Classrooms and learning in blocks of time with isolated concentration is not the only good way to learn, there are a lot of other ones, Carey says. He emphasizes the importance of sleep as the brain’s way to firm the day’s learning content. Furthermore he defends the acts of forgetting, daydreaming and distraction because they can lead to an increase of the learning ability. One aim of him is to introduce the science of learning into the middle school curricula.
