Governmental history textbook in South Korea to come?

The Korean Government is planning to publish an own history textbook but has to face protesting student groups. They gathered in front of the ruling Saenuri Party office and demanded the government to stop this act; they fear for the independence and neutrality of education. In their Opinion the subjects could become restricted and might prevent students from developing diverse viewpoints if the textbook gets developed by public officials. In 1992, the Constitutional Court ruled that a state-authored textbook was constitutional and mentioned advantages like consistency in grammar, spelling and expressions but added this should be done in limited cases. The government announced the introduction of the textbooks for 2017. The "Korean History Research Association" won't contribute to the creation of the books in any way, though.
