How to achieve better education quality in India

The Indian Annual Status of EducationReport (ASER) found that the students from class two to five show deficits when it comes to reading simple English sentences, to counting from 1-100 and to doing simple arithmetic like subtraction and division. Introducing digital technologies as the Indian Prime Minister suggests can’t be the solution, global studies show. Five steps – applied equally – can help to improve the quality of education. Alternative teaching methods, student groups sorted by abilities, mobile learning, offline learning tools and performance evaluations for teachers are the appropriate measures to optimize the learning results of the students. India expects its literacy rate to grow to 80% by 2020.
