Japanese Prime Minister disagrees with World War II depiction of a U.S. textbook

The Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe criticized an American history textbook published by McGraw-Hill Education and asked to change the reporting of several delicate details. He accuses the publisher with reporting inaccurately about Japan’s actions in World War II. The textbook contains a passage that says “The Japanese Army forcibly recruited, conscripted and dragooned as many as 200,000 women aged 14 to 20 to serve in military brothels”, which Abe disagrees with – according to Japanese conservatives they were willing prostitutes. Another issue is the naming of the sea between the Korean Peninsula and Japan. From the Korean perspective it is the East Sea, Japanese call it the Sea of Japan. McGraw-Hill Education rejected the request and remains with its original statements.
