A retired Professor, Vidyadhar Amrite, noticed several mistakes in the maps of an Indian history textbook for grade 6 and submitted his report to the Maharashtra State Bureau of Textbook Production and Curriculum Research “Balbharti”. The Bureau took over the responsibility and announced improvements. Firstly, Amrite pointed out that the Mediterranean Sea has been shown as a landmass in the textbook. Secondly, he noticed that Delhi has been shown on the eastern bank of Yamuna River in one of the maps, whereas most of the national capital is on the western bank of the river. And finally found that the Kanheri caves, located inside the Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Borivali in Mumbai, has been shown located off coast.

"We have taken cognisance of the mistakes and I have summoned a meeting of members who were involved in preparing the textbook. Depending on their feedback, next decision will be taken and if necessary the mistakes will be rectified," said Sunil Magar, Director of Balbharti.
