Number of International Schools in Africa increasing rapidly

The number of international schools in Africa is increasing rapidly. Based on the observed development the Association of International Schools in Africa gave a prediction and expects the number to grow by 113% within the next ten years. Especially Egypt, Nigeria and Kenya benefit from this trend since these countries are centres for commercial organisations and UN-departments whose foreign employees have children. Another reason is the increasing wealth of the population that puts the international school education on a high position on its priority ranking. Curricula more orientated to Western guidelines and their values are more promising for a students’ future as well. But people need to take a closer look to their preferred school as some of them put international in their title in order to seem more upmarket in comparison with their competitors – without offering an international curriculum.
