Taiwan‘s students mount the barricades

The students in Taiwan are currently fighting a new national curriculum they consider to be too “China-centric”. Due to long-lasting discussions, disagreement and the suicide of student activist Lin Kuan-hua the protests escalated and lead to a storming of the education ministry. A group of 200 students climbed the fences and demanded a revision of doubtful textbook contents during a sit-in. It was the second radical action in order to change the “pro-China” passages in textbooks in a short time. The ministry hasn’t announced any changes yet.
