Including a workshop by Professor Scott Lucas (University of Birmingham) on the use of social media as a pioneering tool for academic discovery and discussion. Featuring a panel discussion on the future of American Studies, chaired by Richard Martin, researcher for ‘American Studies in the UK, 2000-2010’ project. Speakers on the panel include Dr Jenny Barrett, Dr Michael Collins, Dr Helen Laville and Professor Martin Halliwell Selected papers from the conference will be published in a special edition of US Studies Online: The BAAS Postgraduate Journal. Carina Spaulding, the editor of US Studies Online, will give a short introduction to the journal at the conference.
